Life begins at 40 - Divorcees & Singles Social Gathering
| Lets build that bridge.... |
LIFE BEGINS AT 40....
So.... I'm in my forties and divorced now. I've realized that I've lost my friends to my ex and therefore would like to make some new ones. The big question however is how do you make new friends with all the weirdos' out there? I've pondered over this for a while now and thought of creating a group that would be able to have get togethers without being concerned or worried that they'll end up being stalked. I want to belong to a group that will make me feel that my life isn't a complete waste after my divorce. This group will be for divorcees and single people 40yrs and over.
So to all the single people in Cape Town, let me hear your ideas because I'd really like to start meeting new people that doesn't belong to my ex's clique.
So hurry up and lets start this club soon because as I've been told, life begins at 40!
If you or anyone who you know would be interested in joining the Life Begins at 40 friendship group please leave a comment or e-mail me with your details so that we can start this friendship...
This is a quote that befits a friend - there are so many but this one describes the friends I am hoping to meet - “A friendship is a person to laugh and cry with. An inspiration. Someone who lends a helping hand though friends may not be forever. And they may not end up together the memories of a true friendship will last forever” – by: Renee donna Bufete

ST. VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY 2013
St. Valentine's Day Party
This year I've decided to have the St. Valentine's Day Party with a difference...
Every year it's the same old story, we go to Ocean Basket, Pirates, Tavern & Ale, Spur (if money's a bit tight) but you get the picture. Don't get me wrong though, I love all these restaurants but it's become a bit monotonous. We get there, sit, order, have a bit of light conversation while we wait for our drinks and food. Eat & then, oh, we've got to go, it's all over. So yes, I'm creating my own magical evening. The evening includes a 3-Course Meal, Music by DJ Donny, Dancing & other entertainment.
Date: 14th February 2013
Time: 7h30pm
Tickets: R150.00 each

Will Standard Bank pay for my petrol?
On the way home last night I had to make a deposit at the ATM but my husband and I were deep in conversation so I forgot to indicate the turn-off. Unfortunately I only realized when I was at home that I did not make the deposit yet. So off we go, back in the car and off to the bank. We get to Kenilworth Centre and I run inside to make the deposit but to my surprise there are no deposit envelopes. I go back to the car and inform my husband that our expedition is not over...
So we drive to an Autobank in Lansdowne where I find a fully stocked envelope compartment. I place my cash in the envelope and proceed as prompted by the machine.... Ok, now I'm waiting for the machine to print the actual slip that you place in the envelope but it's taking really long... Then I get the message that my transaction has been cancelled because..... There is no paper in the machine.... Ridiculous! Anyway, so I take the envelopes and we head back to KC where I finally get to make the deposit!
I have to ask... Has this happened to anyone else or was this just my luck?

Christmas is around the Corner
It's the end of October and two months left before year end. Have you been to the shops lately? Yes, I've seen it too! The Christmas trimmings are up and the shops are advertising Christmas gifts already. I suppose it's a good idea to start your gift shopping early. Some people start doing this during the year which means that you might actually get those items at much less because as we are all aware of the price increases as Christmas draws nearer.

Some people start doing this during the year which means that you might actually get those items at much less because as we are all aware of the price increases as Christmas draws nearer.
Every year I promise myself that "I'll spend less this year", but every year I'm back where I was the year before... Spending more and not less! Gift buying has become something that people can't really afford and some people have agreed to buy gifts for the children and cancel the adult gifting. I enjoy watching the faces of the children when opening their gifts. Unfortunately for some children it isn't a matter of receiving a gift but what the gift is. We have unfortunately spoilt the idea of receiving gifts for many children - todays' children expect expensive gifts and gone are the days when they were happy receiving a doll or a car as they expect you to give them a mp3 player or a cellular phone.
Over the next two months I will be discussing possible gift ideas and recipes for Christmas and summer - my favourite season! My family have celebrated with a Christmas Eve dinner for years now and I have come to appreciate this as it conveniently allows me to have Christmas lunch with my in-laws. Our dinner consists of an array of different dishes which we all contribute to. We may have different dishes during the course of the year however none compares to the Christmas eve spread!
The thing about Christmas is the fact that although there is a big hype leading up to the one day, it is over in a flash - but if I look back and can remember sitting, eating and talking to my family - it's all worth it!
